Photodynamic therapy is used to treat Actinic keratosis
[AKs] are rough patches on the skin, caused by excessive
exposure to the sun, that can sometimes progress into dangerous
skin cancers.
The Levulan is applied to the skin and left on for 45 to
60 minutes. The Levulan is then activated by IPl [intense
pulsed light] It is important to avoid sun exposure for
about 48 hours. Mild to moderate burning or stinging will
occur and usually improves within 24 hours. Facial redness
and peeling will occur and improve in 3 to 7 days in most
patients.
This procedure will last for many years by following up
with a good daily skin care routine. Our staff will give
